Course Description
Days 1 through 5 are for municipal inspectors, design professionals, contractors, and engineers, providing comprehensive instruction and illustration of the use, application, intent and rationale of the 2021 International Building Code.
Day 6 will cover the significant changes made from the 2018 IBC to the 2021 IBC, with specific amendments incorporated into the Pennsylvania Uniform Construction Code.
Learning Objectives
1. Discern and examine the Scope, Application, Administration and Enforcement of the code, Definitions of terms specified in the code, Use and Occupancy Classification, and Types of Construction as it relates to Building Heights and Areas.
2. Distinguish and interpret the authority and duties of the code official as appointed by the jurisdiction as well as the rights and privileges of the design professional.
3. Identify and relate insight needed to evaluate and execute plan review, inspection and code application during the inspection and design process.
4. Recognize and relate the specific impact of mezzanines, accessory occupancies and mixed occupancies on the overall size of a building.
5. Apply updated code provisions to real-world projects to enhance occupant safety and code compliance.

BFCA Instructors will be utilizing an assessment tool during class for training purposes to engage lessons and collect your work.
Additionally, please note that participants are now required to complete a pre-test and post-test in order to receive their certificate of completion.
Required Materials:
The 2018 and 2021 International Building Code (IBC) and a standard calculator are required.

36 UCC continuing education hours awarded for attending and participating all 6 days.

Attendance & Cancellation Policy for Virtual Class
To receive full CEU's for this class, Attendance & Participation in the Live Zoom's are required. You will be expected to attend the full duration of the class.
Please note: Your full first and last name must be used as your Zoom Screen name to earn your CEU's.

Cancellations must be received in writing by sending an email to cancellations@paconstructioncodesacademy.org . Refunds will be determined by the date of the fax or email. A cancellation received less than 10 business days of the session you are registered for, is subject to a $50 administrative fee and any PayPal transactional fees. Those who cancel within 4 business days of the session date or do not attend, forfeit the full registration fee and if unpaid, will be invoiced. Credit toward future PCCA courses may be accepted upon approval from the PCCA administrator; substitutions may be accepted.
