The Substantial Damage Estimations Training is a free State sponsored comprehensive four-hour, hands on, participatory training course on the Substantial Damage Estimator Tool and it’s use. The National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) will offer this class three times this year for Floodplain Administrators and Local officials of our Counties and Communities to gain knowledge of how Substantial Damage is determined. Class content is geared toward Floodplain Administrators; however, ALL Community Officials are welcome. The focus is to inform local Floodplain Managers on the use of the Substantial Damage Estimator and the use of such a program in a post disaster situation. This FOUR HOUR course is taught by Craig “Julius” Lockhart (FEMA) utilizing PowerPoint modules to cover the use of the Substantial Damage Estimator. Additionally, this course will have a segment that explores and explains the use of flood vents in a structure and how they affect insurance rates.
