Process makes perfect. Technical knowledge of building science and energy efficiency is important but having a process for design, construction, and inspections is at least as important for creating affordable, comfortable, energy-efficient buildings. In today’s hectic work environment and without a clear process, few people can ensure important energy code details have been incorporated into construction documents or installed in the field.
This half-day training will provide a strategy for compliance and enforcement of 2015 International Energy Conservation Code (IECC), including obtaining or including required details on construction documents, initiating required inspections, and verifying compliance of new systems commissioning requirements. This program will emphasize commercial mechanical system plan reviews and how the energy code applies to projects involving existing buildings.
Learning objectives:
Attendees will be able to…
- Implement improvements to their current documentation, plan review, and inspection process to improve compliance with the energy code without taking a lot of time.
- Perform an energy code review of simple HVAC system plans and equipment schedules.
- Determine when lighting and mechanical system commissioning is required and develop a mechanism for enforcement.
- Understand how the energy code applies to common projects involving existing commercial buildings.
