This half-day program will examine the full scope of residential and commercial construction and related activities that require permits under the scope of the Uniform Construction Code. Details will be provided on the permit application process, timelines, duties and responsibilities of the Building Code Official in processing permit applications. Extensive attention will be devoted to exploring what construction and related activities are excluded from the UCC, and therefore, permitting, as well as specific permit exemptions built into the UCC regulations. Finally, information will be provided on how opt-in municipalities may amend the UCC to require permits when the UCC regulations do not require them.
